    Excellent food. Service was quick too. They also have a wall of famous people that have visited this restaurant at one point. The heavy hitters are: Black Pepper Steak Cubes and Shanghailander Pan Fried Buns. The veggies were delicious too and so were the fish wrapped in some crunchy green stuff. They serve everything promptly and presentation is 10/10 too. There was no wait time on a Saturday night (they did ask us to leave like 5 mins after we had paid, but they are justified to do so, since another party was coming in). There is also parking in the back.

    Five of us dined together and ordered a total of ten dishes—three appetizers and seven mains. The dishes were all quite authentic, showcasing solid technique and balanced flavors. Appetizers included pickled radish, jellyfish with vinegar, and drunken chicken. The jellyfish stood out with its refreshing crunch and well-balanced acidity. The drunken chicken had a nicely layered wine marinade—aromatic but not overpowering. On to the main courses: cauliflower with smoked bacon in casserole, stir-fried fresh abalone with ginger and scallion, meatball stuffed with salted egg yolk, vermicelli in casserole, and glutinous shao mai, among others. The vermicelli casserole had excellent wok hei (wok fragrance), giving it that deep, smoky flavor we love. The meatball with salted egg yolk was rich and savory, and the abalone was tender with clean, bright seasoning. Every dish was well-prepared, and the overall meal felt comforting.

    11/2/2024 - Had a banquet menu lunchoen at an elegant private room. Overall, each dish is delicious while the Pan-fried buns (生煎包) is average (2 or 3 stars) because the meats and taste is not good, or lacks umami (缺乏鲜味), although the appearance is very good. This is either #1 Shanghai restaurant or one of the top 2 in the County of Los Angeles with an authentic Chinese Cuisine. On the other hand, exchanging a plate only took place once during a 12-course banquet period, which is below an upscale dining restaurant standard.

    Five stars for the amazing time I had with my Ad Gals. The service was great, quicker and friendlier than most places nearby ⭐ My favorite dishes were the jellyfish and the eel the marinade raw crab and the lightly fried fish filet are also good. Not sure what the sign at front is about but better safe than sorry photos for your reference below.

    I have been there several times over the years and really like the Shanghailander Palace. If you like traditional Shanghainese food I would highly recommend it. There are plenty of Shanghai cold dishes and main dishes to choose from to fit your tastes. Can be a little pricy depending on your orders. A nice clean restaurant and the waiter's services are very warm and helpful. Takeout is pretty convenient as well.

    Love the decor and the environment. Most importantly the food! Pickled prune fried fish may sound weird, but was delicious! It draws the sourness from pickled prunes, deeply fried so the whole fish including bones is edible, and finishes with a glaze of sweet and sour sauce. Yum! Best Shanghai restaurant in LA! The weekday lunch specials are of great value! We ordered a couple of appetizers afraid the $14 lunch meal won’t fill us, but we were surprised!
